Second batch bids adieu
The
second batch of engineering students of
SSET will be moving out of the college
very soon. There are 288 students from
Civil, Mechanical, Electrical &
Electronics, Computer Science and
Electronics & Communication Engineering
in this batch. A majority of them are
already well placed before they move
out.
Placement Activities
-
Sobha Developers will be visiting the
campus during third week of May to
recruit Civil and Mechanical students
of 2006 batch. Other conglomerates who
are expected to visit during the month
of May are : Subex Systems to recruit
2007 batch students, Robert Bosch to
select students from 2006 batch and
Furnace Fabrica, Mumbai for placing
2006 batch students.

Negotiations are in progress to rope
in Patni Computers, Mumbai, Larsen
Toubro, Mumbai and Essar Oil, Mumbai.
V-Guard Industries has shortlisted
five of our final year Mechanical
students.
IETE Chapter News
-
Shri.Jiby Varghese, Lecturer,
Electronics & Communication has been
nominated as staff in charge of the
IETE chapter. Smt.Sonal Ayyappan,
Lecturer – Computer Science and
Smt.Annah Manoj George, Lecturer –
Electrical were co-opted as
departmental representatives.

A one-day seminar on New Trends in
Communication was conducted at
Hotel Abad Plaza on February 23 by
IETE, Cochin Centre. The seminar was
attended by Shri.Jiby Varghese,
Lecturer, Electronics & Communication
and student members.

The following one-day workshops were
conducted by IETE students chapter at
our campus :
(1) Network Security – conducted by
B’soft Technologies on April 5.
(2) Power Systems – an in-house
programme on April 6.; and
(3) A paper presentation competition
for students.
Staff Development Programmes
-
Shri.Anil, Library Assistant, had
attended a one-month course on
Compilation of Bibliography at
Central Reference Library (Govt. of
India) Kolkata during February-March.

Smt.Praveena S.Kammath and Smt.Lini
Pyari, Lecturers in Electronics &
Communication, attended an eight-day
programme during February 18-25 at
Sophisticated Test & Instrumentation
Centre (STIC), CUSAT Campus on
Embedded System Design using
Microcontroller. The Programme was
conducted by Shri.S.Ramgopal, Dept. of
Instrumentation, IISc, Bangalore.
Kairali TV at SSET campus
Kairali TV Channel had visited our
campus on April 19, to shoot their
popular programme Students Only.
SSET Annual Day
The college annual day of SSET
was celebrated on April 24 at a
colourful function held at college
campus presided over by Prof.M.Madhavan,
Principal, SSET. Dr.G.P.C.Nayar,
Chairman, SCMS Group was the Guest of
Honour. In his inaugural address,
Dr.Nayar enlightened the student
community of SSET, on the need for
discipline in life and the qualities to
be fine-tuned to make them better
citizens. Certificates of merit for
first prize winners of various items of
Vipanchika 2005, the college cultural
extravaganza was also given away by the
Chairman. The Principal read out the
annual working report of the college.
The function also marked the valedictory
day of the outgoing student union
members and office bearers.
SSET Annual Magazine Released
College annual magazine Pratidhwani
was released at the above function
by Dr.G.P.C.Nayar. Mr.Aneesh Abraham,
Student Editor of the magazine and
Mr.P.P.Premachandran, Asst. Professor
(Staff Editor) also spoke on the
occasion.
Dr. G.P.C.Nayar
re-elected as President
Dr.G.P.C.Nayar, Chairman, SCMS Group had
been re-elected as the President of
Kerala Self-Financing Engineering
College Managements Association at
General Body meeting held on March
January 28, at Cochin.
Dr. Nayar is the founder President of
both KSECMA and Association of
Self-Financing Management Institutions
in Kerala. He is also the National Vice
President of the Federation of
Associations of Managements of Unaided
Professional Educational Institutions in
India.
