Electronics & Communication Engineering
The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering was established in the year 2001. The department offers UG programs in Electronics and Communication Engineering with an intake of 60 students, VLSI Design and Technology with an intake of 30 students and a PG program with specialisation in VLSI & Embedded Systems with an intake of 12.
Well experienced faculty members with expertise in the core areas of VLSI Design, Wireless Communication, Signal processing, Electronic Circuits and Embedded Systems put integrated efforts to nurture students in a good academic and research ambiance.
To update with the recent trends and developments in the field of Electronics, the department takes up the initiative to conduct various Seminars, Conferences and Workshops, with eminent speakers from reputed academia and industry.
The students are also provided value-added courses in each semester to bridge the gap between academics and industry thereby making them capable of doing projects in core domains. Our students are placed in reputed companies like Infosys, Wipro, IBM, TCS, UST Global, Tata Elxsi, Experion, SmartSoCs, Cognizant, BYJU,S, QBurst, etc.
The present funded projects in the department includes
KTU-CERD- Research seed Money - Received a Funding of Rs. 60000/- for the research titled "Touch activated Soft Robotic Hand for Elderly assistance" dated 26/02/2023
KTU-CERD- Research seed Money - Received Funding of Rs 75000/- for Project Titled "Brain Actuated Assistive Technology for the paralyzed" , for the period 02.09.21 to 02.09 24
BIRAC SITARE GYTI Funding granted a sum of Rs. 15,00,000/- for the project "Artificial Deep Learning Brain Actuated Lower Limb Exoskeleton For paralyzed”, during the period 31/12/20 - 31/12/23.
Currently, the department has a Memorandum of Understanding with the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing, Thiruvananthapuram.
Recent achievements of our students are
Anandu Suresh, Sagar P Gokul, Sayuj MJ, Yunus A A, received KTU CERD Student Project Funding of Rs 25000/- for the project Titled " Forest fire fighting using FPV drone ".
Anandu Suresh, Sagar P Gokul, Sayuj MJ, Yunus A A, has attended the 1 week “ente keralam” Project exhibition organised by Ministry of Industries, Government of Kerala.
Sreelakshmi T U, attended Matsue Internship Program (Lake Nakaumi, Lake Shinji and Mt.Daisen Region Internship Program) from February 04 to 19, 2023 in Matsue, Japan

The Only department in Kerala to receive Two Gandhian Young Technological Innovation Award in 2018 and 2020’.
