Mechanical Engineering (ME), known as “The Mother of All Engineering Disciplines”, links the rest of the disciplines together and offers a strong foundation for other engineering education. The discipline is an embodiment of rich principles of analysis, design, operation and maintenance of machinery with pragmatic and adaptable contents making this field “Evergreen”. The applications of mechanical engineering have spread over such a wide spectrum that it has penetrated into almost every industry. ME graduates can find career in almost every sector, right from agriculture to aerospace, manufacturing to medical field, automobile to atmosphere, robotics to renewable energy and innovation to incubation and many more.
Since the invention of the wheel to reusable space technology, Mechanical Engineering has come a long way. The more you look into yourself and the nature around, the wonders of mechanical engineering will astonish you and the Department of Mechanical Engineering at SCMS School of Engineering and Technology houses all the necessary ingredients and elements to take you through an amazing, exciting and memorable journey of quality technological education beyond the traditional knowledge and methods in the field. Students here don’t just learn the contents of the syllabus but celebrate every single lecture, nurture the spirit of its applications and adopt every part of it as a way of life.
The Department of Mechanical Engineering at SSET constituted in the year 2001 started with a UG program of 60 students. Owing to the quality of education and number of placements it certainly has expanded overwhelmingly in the past decade. It currently offers a UG program with an intake of 120 students and a PG program with specialization in Production and Industrial Engineering with an intake of 18 students. The department promotes a learning environment conducive for research, innovation, training and scholarly activities.
