INTERCOLLEGIATE NATURE PHOTOGRAPHY COMPETITION

Under the auspices of YES Club

YES (Young Environmentalists at SCMS) is a student-driven green initiative club. Since inception, the club aims to kindle environmental consciousness amongst the student community.


be:pro, Kerala’s first Nikon Rental House was formed in March 2017 to cater to the growing need for renting high quality photography equipment.


Being an initiative of Credenser – Nikon’s Authorised Regional Service, be:pro is a one stop point for all queries and assistance required to enhance the photography experience. Their mission is to empower each and every person with the knowledge required to achieve the potential through the pursuit of photography.

ELIGIBILITY

The competition is open to students pursuing graduation in various regular colleges across Kerala.


PRIZES

Cash Prizes Rs 10,000/-. Rs 7500/- and Rs 5000/- for first, second and third places. A special prize will be given for the best lady photographer.


ENTRY FEE

Entry fee per participant is Rs 100/- Payment can be effected through the link below as instructed.



The participant is required to give Name, Roll no.as per college record, and the Mobile number. In the field "course" the college name is to be entered. The fee type to be selected is Other Fee. Enter the amount 100 and proceed.


SUBMISSION OF ENTRIES

  • Each image submitted must be the original and unpublished work of the participant.
  • The participant should submit a soft copy of the college photo identity card along with the contesting photograph

The Contest Will Have Three Rounds

Round One: Open up to 7th December 2017


  • Only one image (unedited) can be submitted by each participant
  • The entries in jpeg format should be sent to the id yes@scmsgroup.org. It is preferable to submit images which have been shot in raw formats
  • Pictures can only be adjusted for brightness, contrast, colour and saturation
  • Only the pictures shot during the period 1st June 2017 to 6th December 2017 can be submitted
  • Exif data should not be modified. The exif data will be judged to verify the authenticity.
  • The evaluation during Round One will mainly be focused on compliance to instructions, authenticity of the images and adherence to the theme.
  • Each image submitted must be the original and unpublished work of the participant. The participant should submit an affidavit to this effect in the prescribed format.

Round Two (10th Dec – 14th Dec 2017))


  • During this round, 40% weightage will be given for the number of likes the candidate gains for his/her pictures
  • Hence the participants may promote his/her photos on the event page and gain maximum number of likes from the date the photo is published till 14th December 2017
  • 60% weightage will be allotted for the judges’ decision (to be based on clarity of the images, creativity and adherence to the theme)

Round Three (19th December 2017)


  • All the selected entries to the third round should be printed (8x10 inches) and produced at SCMS, Muttom Campus Aluva latest by 10:00 AM on 19th December 2017
  • Glossy or Matte photo prints are preferable
  • The photographers of the shortlisted photographs for round three of the competition are required to submit a bonafide student certificate issued by the Principal of the college where he/she is studying along with the print out of the photograph.
  • An exhibition of the bonafide photographs will be conducted in the campus on 19th December
  • The evaluation of the photographs will be based on ‘as received’ condition
  • The finalists are welcome to attend the exhibition
  • Participants are entirely responsible for all other entry-related costs
  • The students of SCMS Group of Educational Institutions are not allowed to participate in the competition

Judging and Results


The images will be selected by a panel of judges and their decision is final No correspondence pertaining to the selection process and decision will be entertained The panel of judges will evaluate the images based on the following criteria:

  • Visual appeal
  • Extent to which the photograph captures the essence of the theme
  • Adherence to guidelines
