Stormwater study for HPCL

Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL), Irumbanam Terminal is located at reclaimed part of a wetland system. The water table is relatively high in major portions of this study area. Changing rainfall patterns and unexpected flooding such as those in 2018 and 2019 are a major concern for HPCL especially while planning further expansion of the terminal. Any expansion or construction on this campus of HPCL will be safe and secure only if the stormwater runoff is effectively managed in case of severe and intensive rains. SCMS Water Institute has conducted a detailed study on stormwater collection within the campus, the possibility of flooding in various scenarios and also a water audit to assess water supply, demand and usage patterns so as to forward recommendations for the water security of the terminal at Irumbanam.

SCMS Water Institute team is conducting a total station survey at HPCL Irumbanam terminal for preparation of a contour map and DEM
