“Participative urban sanitation planning” for Alapuzha municipality – joint winter school by SWI, SSET & IIT Bombay, November 27 – December 4, 2017
The Winter School by IIT Bombay & SWI for M.Tech EE students on “Participatory Urban Sanitation Planning for Small & Medium Towns” (from 27th Nov to 4th Dec) was conducted at Alapuzha. It’s organised for 3rd semester M.Tech students (batch 4) of SSET as well as IIT Bombay. Everyday students do field work in the morning and analysis and compilation of data in the afternoon. The state of the art facilities of Kerala State Coir Machinery Manufacturing Company at Alapuzha has been provided by Government for conducting this Winter School. There used to be a lecture by an expert of national repute on every day evening. The students got the remarkable opportunity to interact with Hon’ble Finance Minister Dr Thomas Issac; Dr Madhavan Chandradathan, Scientific Advisor to Chief Minister of Kerala; Mrs T V Anupama IAS, District Collector Alapuzha; Dr Joy Elamon, Director Kerala Institute of Local Administration; faculty from IIT Bombay, etc. This Winter School was a great exposure for the students & faculty of SSET and IIT Bombay.
