Kadambrayar Drinking Water Project Feasibility Study

Major regions in Ernakulam are developing fast in terms of urbanisation as well as industrialisation. Evidently, the demand for drinking water is currently increasing and ought to increase in the future. Thus the KWA (Kerala Water Authority) requires an alternative source of drinking water supply to meet the future water demand in densely populated areas. Hence to reduce the water scarcity and to supply water with more efficiency the River Kadambrayar is considered as the drinking water source. Thus KWA consulted SCMS School of Engineering and Technology, Karukutty, to study the feasibility of considering River Kadambrayar as a source of drinking water and this report is an outcome of the study conducted. The study focuses on the feasibility of the withdrawal of water from the River Kadambrayar for water supply after necessary treatment, to meet the present and future water demand. The key objective of the study is to explore the possible ways of withdrawing water from the river for the water supply.
