Water Institute of SCSMS School of Engineering & Technology is a knowledge partner that provides technical support in various projects of KWA

For developing the Kochi water Information system towards creating a smart KWA network – GIS Mapping of the distribution system and production components of the water supply system of Kochi Corporation; Simulation of the water supply system in EPANET computer software was completed. Simulation of the transmission mains from the Aluva to the Kochi area has been started as a new component of the project for which smart sensors can be introduced initially. This work needs more time period and multi-disciplinary involvement from our Institution is providing to KWA.

As per the proposal by Prof (Dr.) Bindu, Hon. Minister of Higher Education and Member of Legislative Assembly, Irinjalakuda constituency; Water Resource Mapping and formulating Water Security plan for Irinjalakuda Assembly Constituency association with KWA is done by SWI. As per this proposal, SCMS Water Institute has developed a GIS map that marks all water resource assets like drinking water production units of KWA, the water distribution network of KWA, individual water supply schemes, open wells, bore wells and other water sources.

KWA consulted SCMS School of Engineering and Technology, Karukutty, to study the feasibility of considering River Kadambrayar as a source of drinking water and a report was prepared as an outcome of the study conducted. The study focused on the feasibility of the withdrawal of water from the River Kadambrayar for water supply after necessary treatment, to meet the present and future water demand. The key objective of the study was to explore  the possible ways of withdrawing water from the river for the water supply.
