SCMS group that has grown from a single institution under the Prathap Foundation for Education & Training to a group of ten distinct institutions in various disciplines has proved true the vision of its founder Chairman, Dr. G P C Nayar.
Prathap Foundation for Education & Training was established in 1976 by Dr. G.P.C. Nayar, with the objective of setting high standards in professional education. Over the years, the Foundation has become one of the leading promoters of academic institutions in the country.
The School of Communication and Management Studies, (SCMS) established by the Foundation in the year of its inception has, over the years, zoomed to national eminence as a premier Business School.
The Foundation has sponsored several world class professional institutions under the SCMS umbrella and it is referred to as SCMS Group. The SCMS Group offers post-graduate and diploma courses in management, engineering, research, consultancy and training.
To offer creative technology and culture related education of exceptional quality to students by developing their total personality with due emphasis on ethical values and preparing them to meet the growing challenges of human habitat.

Prathap Foundation of Education and Training started its first academic institution, the School of Communication and Management Studies(SCMS) in 1976, which in later years earned fame and glory as a top business school. It was rechristened as SCMS Cochin school of business in the year 2013. The Foundation went on establishing institutions to offer professional education in engineering, technology, management, architecture, hospitality, animation, biotech research, socio-economic research and other professional areas like Polytechnics with the core concept of quality and excellence in anything it does.
Promoters of SCMS Group are academicians with years of experience in running professional institutions of excellence in management and technology. A long march to a glorious future was flagged off in 1976 with the establishment of the Prathap Foundation for Education and Training by Dr.G.P.C. Nayar at Kochi.
Dr. Nayar who held top management positions with leading global corporate houses, wished to impart quality education at affordable costs to striving youngsters in India. The dream came true the same year with the establishment of the humble management institution – the School of Communication and Management Studies (SCMS).. Sharp focus on quality education soon gave an edge to the institution. SCMS grew to become a center of excellence for management and communication studies in a very short span of time. Over the years ,the management of SCMS Group under the visionary leadership of Dr.G.P.C.
