Overview

Explore the SCMS School of Architecture campus, where every corner is designed for learning and living. Established in 2014 in the lush landscapes of Kerala, our campus is a spacious, well-equipped haven for aspiring architects. It features a blend of modern classrooms, comfortable dormitories and state-of-the-art facilities. Here, students are nurtured for both professional excellence and personal growth. The campus environment is tailored to foster creativity and innovation, making it an ideal setting for architectural education and holistic development.

SSA Library And Reading Room

The SSA Library, a vibrant hub of knowledge, houses an extensive collection of over 2400 volumes on diverse architectural subjects. It’s a nurturing space for ideas, with a rich array of national and international journals, fostering a thriving intellectual environment. Open from morning till evening on all working days, the library extends beyond regular class hours, supporting continuous learning and exploration.

of architecture and a large number of national and
international technical journals on architecture and
allied subjects, the School of Architecture Library
is more than equipped to meet the requirements of
the B.Arch programme. The library is open from
8AM to 8PM on all working days, to enable students
to use the facility even after regular class hours.

SSA Studio/Lecture Halls

At SSA, the architectural design studio is where the essence of design education comes to life. Ten studios cum lecture halls, each spacious and well-lit, create an environment conducive to creativity. These state-of-the-art facilities, complete with modern teaching aids, workshops and art studios, provide the perfect setting for the B.Arch program, encouraging students to transform ideas into tangible creations.

SSA has established state-of-the-art infrastructural facilities for
conducting the B.Arch programme. A creative learning environment is
supported through spacious, well-ventilated and lit studios, supported
by latest teaching aids. Well-equipped workshops and art studios
enable students to convert their ideas into objects and gain hands on
experience. A seminar hall is available for larger gatherings.

SSA Computer Lab

The SSA Computer Lab stands as a testament to the fusion of technology and architectural innovation. Equipped with advanced computing tools, it’s designed to meet the complex needs of architectural design and analysis. This lab is a cornerstone of modern architectural education, enabling students to harness technology in their creative pursuits.

Understanding the indispensable role of technology in modern architectural pursuits, our lab is outfitted with state-of-the-art computing equipment, tailored to cater to the intricate demands of architectural design and analysis.

Workshops

SSA’s workshops, including model making, carpentry, survey, electrical and visual arts studios, are well-equipped spaces where ideas take physical form. The spacious common areas, used for displaying student works and hosting open design reviews, inspire students to elevate their performance and creativity.

Material Museum

The Material Museum at SSA is an expansive space dedicated to showcasing the latest building materials and construction tools. It’s an educational resource that provides students with hands-on experience and knowledge about contemporary materials, aiding them in making informed design decisions and detailed planning.

Design includes selection of appropriate materials. SSA has dedicated over 1000 sq.ft. of space for a material museum, providing students with physical samples of building materials, exposing them to developments in the building material sector enabling them to make informed choices about the materials proposed for their designs. Technical brochures help them in the detailing of their designs.

Exhibition Area

SSA’s exhibition area, spanning a generous space, functions as an informal gallery. Equipped with versatile pin-up boards, it’s a space where student creativity is on full display, inspiring peers, faculty and visitors with a showcase of design excellence and innovation.

Hostel

SSA offers comfortable and secure separate hostel facilities for male and female students, fostering a community atmosphere. The hostels are equipped with essential amenities, ensuring a homely and conducive living environment. Dedicated staff focus on safety and well-being, making it a home away from home for students.

Conveyance

SSA provides a fleet of college buses, covering key locations in Kerala, ensuring convenient and timely transportation for students and staff. The bus service is meticulously scheduled to align with class timings, offering a hassle-free commute to and from the campus.

Equipping Students Through Internship

Internships are catalysts for change from being a student to becoming a professional. Students undergo extensive training under the supervision of a registered architect. It helps students develop drafting skills, design aesthetic as well as functional buildings, adapt designs to suit budget constraints or client needs, design with building codes and environmental factors in mind, etc. Students learn to engage with clients, consultants, contractors, field staff and workers and work as a team. They get hands on experience in project inception, tendering, estimation, onsite execution, etc. Architecture internship is for a period of one year (Semester 7 & 8). Guidance sessions are held in making resume and portfolio and an orientation workshop is conducted during semester 6. Students receive an internship manual and guidance from faculty in choosing and applying to Architecture firms/companies based on students area of interest. In the 10th Semester, Career Guidance Sessions are held, to help students build their career. Students from SSA have interned in well-known national and international firms/companies in sectors like residential, industrial, commercial, interior design, sustainable development, landscape design, green design, urban design and low cost architecture. In addition to districts in Kerala, students have interned in Qatar, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Bangalore, etc.

Our Facilities

SSA Library and Reading Room

The architecture library acts as a healthy “space” where ideas can flourish, live, grow and even be protected.

SSA Library is with more than 2000 books and 25 National and 3 international Journals in an area of 201 square meter.

The architectural design studio is a physical environment where students are primarily taught the aspects of design education. SSA is having ten studios cum Lecture Halls with an area of 250 sq.m per studio.
