Students from Semester 1 and 2, accompanied by faculty member Ar. Ragashree Nair, participated in the Sumi-e Japanese Ink Painting Workshop held at the Nippon Kerala Centre, Kochi, on 17th December 2025. The workshop introduced participants to the traditional Japanese art of ink painting, emphasizing simplicity, balance, and expressive brush techniques. Through hands-on practice and guided instruction, the students explored the cultural and artistic philosophy behind Sumi-e, gaining exposure to an international art form. The experience enhanced their visual sensitivity, creativity, and appreciation for cross-cultural artistic practices, contributing meaningfully to their overall design education.
