Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Centre (IEDC)
The Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Centre (IEDC) of SCMS School of Technology and Management serves as a vibrant platform for nurturing innovation, creativity, and entrepreneurial aspirations among students and faculty members. Established with the support of Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM), in 2021 the centre is committed to creating an ecosystem that encourages students to transform innovative ideas into successful ventures.
IEDC actively organizes workshops, expert talks, startup boot camps, ideation challenges, hackathons, innovation contests, and entrepreneurship development programmes to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and mindset required to become future entrepreneurs and innovators. The centre promotes interdisciplinary collaboration and provides opportunities for students to engage with industry experts, startup founders, investors, and mentors.
A unique strength of the institution’s entrepreneurial ecosystem is its close integration with LAUNCH, the institution’s incubation centre. Promising ideas and startup ventures emerging from IEDC activities are provided incubation support through LAUNCH, enabling students and alumni to receive mentorship, infrastructure support, networking opportunities, and guidance in business development. This seamless pathway from ideation to incubation has enabled several student-led ventures to progress into registered startups and sustainable enterprises.
The IEDC continuously strives to foster a culture of innovation and problem-solving by encouraging students to address real-world challenges through technology, business innovation, and social entrepreneurship. Through its various initiatives, the centre plays a pivotal role in developing entrepreneurial competencies, promoting startup creation, and contributing to the institution’s vision of producing industry-ready professionals and responsible entrepreneurs.
