Fostering a Safe and Respectful Environment
The Internal Compliance Committee and Prevention of Sexual Harassment at SSTM
At SSTM, we uphold the dignity and respect of every individual through our Internal Compliance Committee and Prevention of Sexual Harassment. Established in 2013, this committee is a cornerstone in our commitment to maintaining a campus environment that is free from any form of sexual harassment and gender discrimination.
Our Policy on Sexual Harassment: In adherence to the Supreme Court Judgement and guidelines issued in 1997, and subsequent UGC circulars, our policy is unequivocal: we provide a congenial atmosphere where students, teachers, and staff can work together without fear of violence, harassment, exploitation, or intimidation.
Objectives of the Committee
- To prohibit any form of gender-based persecution that hinders academic or professional progress.
- To prevent gender-biased discrimination concerning the evaluation of work within working hours.
- To protect the fundamental rights of women and all members of the institution.
Roles and Responsibilities
- To assist individuals in understanding and exercising their rights to freedom.
- To treat sexual harassment as a serious offense and initiate punitive actions for such misconduct.
- To support the aggrieved in lodging a complaint and to safeguard the victim.
Understanding Sexual Harassment: The committee defines sexual harassment in its various forms, including unwelcome sexual advances, demands for sexual favors, and any verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature that may insult an individual’s sensibilities or affect their performance.
