Session on Indian Knowledge System (IKS)

The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering organized a session on Indian Knowledge System (IKS) – Possibilities of Electrical Signals in Ayurveda on 29th September 2025 at AC-II 204, Seminar Hall. The program was coordinated by Dr. Beena Puthillath (Faculty Coordinator) and Mr. Adhil Aman M A, S5 EEE Batch 2023 (Student Coordinator). A total of 61 students from the department actively participated, including 14 students from S7 EEE, 20 students from S5 EEE, and 27 students from S3 EEE. The event began with Session 1 (8:45–9:10 am) led by Dr. Beena Puthillath, who delivered an insightful talk on Ancient Ayurveda and its possible connections with electrical signals and systems. The session highlighted the traditional concepts of Ayurveda and explored innovative perspectives on how bio-electrical signals in the human body could be interpreted using engineering principles, opening possibilities for interdisciplinary research. Following this, Session 2 (9:10–9:30 am) was handled by Ms. Aishwarya V R (S3 EEE Batch 2023), who presented on Plants used for Ayurveda treatment. She explained the medicinal properties of different plants and their therapeutic applications, emphasizing the relevance of natural remedies in modern healthcare. The program concluded with an exhibition and live demonstration (9:30– 9:45 am) on Ayurveda plants by Mr. Ajith and Mr. Steevo Poly (S5 EEE Batch 2023). Various medicinal plants were displayed and their uses were explained, giving the students a practical understanding of Ayurveda in relation to engineering possibilities. The session successfully provided participants with an opportunity to appreciate India’s traditional knowledge system while recognizing its scope for integration with modern electrical and electronic engineering. The event encouraged students to think beyond conventional domains and inspired interdisciplinary learning, particularly in the context of Electrical Engineering.
