Kerala LIFE Mission project _ Service based consultancy work awarded to SSET by Govt.

Kerala State Government has appointed SSET as their TPTA (Third party technical agency) of Chalakudy Municipality in their housing project namely ‘Kerala LIFE Mission project’. Civil engineering department faculties and students in association with Municipality has started working on the same.

What is LIFE Mission project?

Mission LIFE (Livelihood Inclusion and Financial Empowerment) envisages a comprehensive housing scheme for all the landless and homeless in the State. Housing, being the very basic requirement that holds the key to accelerate social development in many ways, the Government of Kerala launched the LIFE. The target of the mission is to provide safe housing to nearly 4.30 lakhs of homeless in the State within a period of 5 years.

Role of SSET

Stage 1. As part of this scheme, the mission will help those who received assistance from other schemes but could not complete the construction and move into a safe house. The mission envisages award of financial assistance (a maximum of 4 lakhs per house) to those incomplete house beneficiaries, but strictly based on the study report prepared by the TPTA. A total of 47 such in-completed houses were identified in the Chalakudy municipality jurisdiction area and SSET will act as a consultant (in all means up to the completion report) to complete the construction keeping in mind cost aspect without compromising quality. The SSET students get benefited in a big way by involving in such real life engineering works.
