Activities

 A Talk on Automotive Materials & Surface Engineering  Hosted by Dr. R Rajendran, Chairman – SAEINDIA Engineering Education Board. 

The department of Automobile Engineering – SAEIndia Collegiate Club of SCMS in association with SAEIndia Southern Section (Cochin Division) hosted Dr R Rajendran, Chairman – SAEINDIA Engineering Education Board for a “EXPERT TALK” on Automotive Materials & Surface Engineering on 16th January 2020 from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m.

The talk on Automotive Materials began with Dr Rajendran conducting a brief test to evaluate the students’ knowledge in the field of materials science.

He covered the basics of design and the importance of material selection in a design before moving into the recent material selection trends and what are the current materials being used by OEM’s for various components.

Auto Workshop 2.0

Organized by the IEDC of SCMS for Mechanical and Automobile Engineering students.

Program

The Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Centre (IEDC) of SCMS School of Engineering and Technology in association with SAE India collegiate club of SCMS has organised “SAE AUTO WORKSHOP” at Karukutty campus exclusively for Mechanical Engineering / Automobile Engineering students on October 27 & 28, 2017.

 An Awareness Program In Association With Mahindra & Mahindra Limited. 

Mahindra AQ- Sustainability with Automobiles in association with Mahindra & Mahindra Limited at SCMS School of Engineering and Technology, Karukutty on 12-02-2015 to 17-02-2015.

Prof. P.C Pillai, Senior Group Director, SCMS Group of Educational Institutions, Cochin, formally inaugurated the awareness programme. Prof. M. Madhavan, Principal, SSET, presided over the function. Prof. E.d Mukundan, H.O.D, Department of Automobile Engineering presented the theme address. Mr. Koshy P Joseph, Assistant Professor, Department of Automobile Engineering gave the welcome speech and Mr. Sujay K, Assistant Professor, Department of Automobile Engineering proposed ‘vote of thanks. Mr. Kiran Hareendran, Final Year Automobile Engineering student has compered the event.

AUTO WORKSHOP

A hands-on practical workshop for B.E/B.Tech Third & Final year Automobile/Mechanical Engineering Students.

SAEIndia collegiate club of SCMS in association with SAEIndia Southern section conducted a 2 day hands on practical workshop from 19th & 20th September 2014 for B.E / B.Tech Third & Final year Automobile/Mechanical Engineering Students. A total of 40 students participated in this event from all over India. The enrolment for the program was limited to 40 to ensure proper practical exposure for all participants. Prof E. D Mukundan, HOD, Dept of Automobile Engineering, SSET led the team of experts which included:

A Team From SCMS Participated In SAEIndia BAJA 2013 At Pithampur, Madhya Pradesh. 

A team of 24 students from our college under the team name V24 participated in SAEIndia BAJA 2013 which was conducted at Pithampur, Madhya Pradesh. 120 teams participated from all over India our team finished at 30th position and we got ranked as the 1st from Kerala. The event focuses on the engineering and designing skills of the team members for making a four wheeled off-road buggy. The buggy lovingly named “HITLER” by the team was designed and manufactured with the guidance and support of SCMS GROUP and the Automobile Department of SSET. The first round was the VIRTUAL BAJA event conducted at Bangalore Institute of Technology, Bangalore in which 300 teams participated and only 120 teams got shortlisted.

Sae Trek

A 2-day program that included training in Engineering Design Process and a trekking experience.

SAEIndia collegiate club of SCMS in association with SAEIndia Southern section conducted 2 day program for B.E / B.Tech Automobile, Mechanical Engineering students from 6th to 7th February, 2012. SAE trek is an annual program conducted by SAEIndia Southern section which consists ofDay-1 Training in Engineering Design Process, Engineering Fundamentals, Knowledge Building, Customer Voice to Detail Design; and Day-2 including an Unforgettable Trekking Experience, Explore Nature, one-to-one interaction with Senior Automotive Professionals, Training Kits, Complements and Certificates provided by SAEINDIA. The guests for this event were:
