Three Day Hands-On Training Program On Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP)

Dr.Beena Puthillath (The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering organized a three day hands-on training program on Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing(MEP) using REVIT software from 9th to 11th September 2025. The training sessions were conducted at the Power Electronics Laboratory from 8.45 am to 3.45 pm on all three days. The program was coordinated by Dr. BeenaPuthillath, Assistant Professor, Department of EEE, and was attended by 14students from S7 EEE and 19 students from S7 Civil Engineering, making a total of 33 participants. The sessions were skillfully handled by Ms. ShoneFrancis, Design Engineer from CAD Point, Angamaly, who brought in professional expertise and practical insights into BIM applications. The training aimed to equip students with industry-relevant skills in Building

Information Modelling (BIM) with a focus on MEP design. By integrating both electrical and civil engineering students, the program also promoted an interdisciplinary learning environment, reflecting real-world construction and engineering practices. Day 1 (9-9-2025) of the program began with an introduction to REVITsoftware, its role in modern design workflows, and its applications in architectural and MEP projects. Students were guided through the basics such as Revit file types, templates, units, and level creation. Practical Exercises included working on building elements and learning the use of editing commands, stacked commands, and editing comments.Day 2 (10-9-2025) focused on developing modeling skills and extending them to practical applications. Students learned to create automatic sketches and practiced with Revit modifying tools, which enabled them to refine and customize their building models effectively.
