The Department of Mechanical Engineering, SCMS School of Engineering and Technology in association with BMW EVM Autokraft and Ducati EVM has organised 2-day Workshop on Future Technologies for students on October 15 and 16, 2019 at SCMS School of Engineering and Technology, Karukutty campus. The program had an overwhelming response with 246 registrations.

Training Programme on Numerical Methods and Computing Techniques for Modern Engineering
The Department of Mechanical Engineering conducted a three-day training programme on Numerical Methods and Computing Techniques for Modern Engineering. Dr. C.G. Nandakumar, Structural Consultant and Retd. Professor, Dept. of Ship Technology, CUSAT gave a session on “Introduction to Finite Element Method”. Dr. Sheeja Janardhanan, Professor, Dept. of Mechanical Engineering, SSET highlighted various aspects of Numerical Modelling & Simulations which followed demonstration classes by Mr. Nikhil Asok, Ms. Vidya Chandran and Mr. Benrose Prasad, Assistant Professors, SSET.
Workshop on Design Project
A workshop on Design Project was conducted on 28 th June 2017 by Mr. Francis Thomas, Asst. Professor, Dept. of Mechanical Engineering. The beneficiaries were the first year and second year students and the respective class co-ordinators.

Workshop on Metaheuristic Algorithms for Optimisation
A Workshop on “Metaheuristic Algorithms for Optimisation” was conducted on 3 rd December 2016 by Mr. Paul J Alengadan, Asst. Professor, Dept. of Mechanical engineering. The workshop covered the following topics
- Introduction to optimisation problems
- Overview of metaheuristic algorithms
- Genetic Algorithm
- Artificial Bee Colony Algorithm
- Introduction to hybrid algorithms
International Conference on Computing in Mechanical Engineering (ICCME 2015)
First International Conference on Computing in Mechanical Engineering (ICCME 2015) conducted from 10 th August, 2015 to 13 th August, 2015, provided a platform for researchers from six different countries to interact and share the recent trends in the application of computing aspects in Mechanical Engineering. The ideas were presented through technical paper presentations, keynote lectures and tutorials. This indeed helped the students and staff to imbibe research culture from the well–known researchers of the world.
Hands on training program on the software CATIA
A hands on training program on the software CATIA from 19 th to 30 th May 2014 was organized for the faculty members of Mechanical Department, as part of Harita Tech- SSET research initiative and Mr. Vijesh Kadavil, Senior recruitment Advisor, Harita Techserv was the resource person.
One-day training on Latex
One-day training on Latex was conducted by the Mechanical Engineering Department on 23 rd January 2013. Mr. Noel Joseph Gomez, Asst. Professor- Mechanical Engineering was the resource person and the beneficiaries were M.Tech Mechanical Engineering students and Mechanical Engineering faculty members.
