FOSS Club
FOSS Club SSET, the Free Software and Open Source Software Community of SCMS School of Engineering and Technology
We conduct workshops, Linux installation parties, hackathons, meetups, and more to promote FOSS culture on our campus. We believe that FOSS is not just for tech students, but for everyone. Our approach to growing the community is by inviting people in as users first, and then showing them they can help make the technology better. We give equal focus to technical and non-technical contributions.
Our Annual Events
- Debian Day: where we introduce students to the Debian operating system, show them how critical it is, and invite them to use Debian and contribute their talents to the project.
- Simple as it Gits: A full-day, hands-on workshop on Git and GitHub, conducted and coordinated by students of SSET.
- From Data to Destination: a workshop, competition, and awareness sessions on open data, Wikidata, and OpenStreetMap, in partnership with open data communities in Kerala such as OpenDataKerala, Wikimedians User Group of Kerala, FSUG Thrissur, and OSM Kerala
