Library Rules and Regulations

Overview

The Dr. Pradeep P Thevannoor Learning Resource Centre is a hub of knowledge and learning. To ensure a conducive environment for all its users, the library has set forth a set of rules and regulations. Adherence to these guidelines ensures that every user can benefit from the resources available without hindrance.

General Rules

  • Silence must be maintained at all times.
  • Group discussions are not permitted inside the library.
  • Prior registration is mandatory to become a library member and access its resources.
  • Personal belongings are not allowed inside.
  • Textbooks, printed materials, and previously issued books must not be taken inside.
  • The use of cellular phones and audio instruments, with or without speakers or headphones, is strictly prohibited.
  • Every visitor must sign in the register at the entrance before entering.
  • All materials being taken out must be shown to the staff at the entrance counter.
  • The librarian reserves the right to recall any book from any member at any time.
  • Library borrower cards are non-transferable. Borrowers are responsible for books issued on their cards.
  • No refreshments are allowed inside the library premises.
  • Admission is free, but students must produce their valid Identity Cards for entry.

  • Books are issued upon presenting the library card along with the ID card/smart card. It’s the student’s responsibility to check the books for any damage or mutilation at the time of borrowing.

  • A fine of Rs. 5 per day per book is levied if books are returned after the due date. Renewal is possible before the due date unless reserved by other users.
  • In case of lost books, the borrower must either replace the book with the same/latest edition or pay three times its cost.
  • Borrower cards must be handled with care. Loss of cards should be reported, and a fee of Rs.100/- per card is charged for replacements.
  • This section houses encyclopedias, dictionaries, textbooks, IS Codes, etc., available only for reference
  • Subject journals, general magazines, and newsletters are available. The latest issues are displayed, while previous ones are stored in drawers   
  • By respecting these rules, every user contributes to a harmonious and productive library environment, ensuring that the Dr. Pradeep P Thevannoor Learning Resource Centre remains a beacon of knowledge and learning.
